Identifikasi dan Distribusi Kutu Busuk (Cimex sp.) di Beberapa Pesantren Kota Palangka Raya

Bed bugs (Cimex sp.) are insects that can cause dermatitis, allergic reactions, and potential anemia through their blood-feeding bites. Their spread is closely related to environmental cleanliness and the condition of bedding. This study aims to determine the presence and identify the species of bed bugs (Cimex sp.) found in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) in Palangka Raya. This descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in January 2024 at several Islamic boarding schools in Palangka Raya to identify the presence and types of bed bugs (Cimex sp.) in students' dormitories. The study samples included mattresses, bolsters, pillows, carpets, and sofas located in dormitories with damp conditions and limited sunlight, using purposive sampling techniques. The equipment used included non-sterile gloves, flashlights, masks, head coverings, small bottles (100 cc urine pots), and label papers for visual inspections and the collection of Cimex sp. samples.Findings from six Islamic boarding schools in Palangka Raya revealed the presence of bed bugs (Cimex sp.) on mattresses, pillows, stuffed toys, and wooden cupboards. Macroscopic characteristics, such as black spots, were notably found at Nurul Solihin and Hidayatul Insan Islamic Boarding Schools. Nurul Solihin recorded the highest number of Cimex sp., with 71 eggs, 32 nymphs, and 36 adult bugs. These findings suggest that the sleeping environment in some boarding schools potentially supports bed bug development. The study identified Cimex lectularis at Nurul Solihin and Hidayatul Insan Islamic Boarding Schools, with life cycle stages found, including eggs, nymphs, and adult bugs, and their habitats distributed in both schools.
